![]() | Re: V Raptor and VRII I tested the VRII and found it very responsive, very bright. A pal of mine, great lead player has a very focused sound on it. Pretty steep price point, and sound wise, frankly, I prefer the Yamaha Z or even a Bach 37 or 43, but I like what Mr. Reeves has done here. ![]() | Re: V Raptor and VRII I own a regular weight, silver plated v-raptor. It it very well built, very easy playing, has great valves and incredible projection. It comes with options (2 tuning slides and a cylinder reinforcer bottom cap) that lets the user adjust the response. While you can push the horn, it really doesn't need it. For me, the more relaxed I play on it, the better sound I can get from it. I particularly like that the sound remains full at softer volumes. I've also tried the VRII. Good horn as well, but I preferred my original v-raptor. Can't really explain why except the original horn felt more comfortable. Garry |

![]() | Re: V Raptor and VRII I haven't played a VRII, but this is what I'll say for the V Raptor - best, most reponsive, and most in-tune horn I've ever played! Everything is easier for me. One of my old teachers has a light model in silver, and he says it's the first horn his double a has ever been in tune on. A friend I play with has a standard weight gold plate, which was the first one I tried, and after just a few miutes on it I was hooked! My own is a standard weight in laquer, and when I ordered, K.O. told me that there isn't a whole lot of difference between the finishes, but they play better with a finish than in raw brass. He also didn't try to push me toward the VRII, which is a bit more expensive. He said if I hadn't tried it, how would I know if I wanted it? Nice people that work there - don't try to point you towards something unless you ask for it.
