| Pianissimo User | What is a good cheap pocket trumpet? Are there any really good pocket trumpets out worth buying? I know amati I think makes a decent one for a good price. But are guys happy with any pockets that you got recently. Maybe a pocket trumpet is not even worth buying |

In choosing a pocket trumpet, the criteria really shouldn't be any diffierent than choosing any other horn. I once owned a Kanstul pocket trumpet that was an excellent horn. I seem to remember it costing me around $1200. I know Benge makes a pocket trumpet as do other manufacturers. bigtiny | |

| Pianissimo User | Re: What is a good cheap pocket trumpet? Phaeton just came out with a pocket trumpet. I got to play it at a trumpet festival recently. I was very impressed! It played nicely and the guy said it was around $500. Here is the only place I could find them online. http://www.pjlamusic.com/phaeton.html It says the retail price is 800 but the actual price is always lower than that. |

![]() | Re: What is a good cheap pocket trumpet? The Phaeton is listed on Dillon's website, though there is no picture. They sell it for $600 in laquer and $650 in silver plate. I have toyed with the idea of purchasing a pocket trumpet myself as I could put it to use and gain some practice time. I have considered the pocket max but am curious about the Phaeton. |

![]() | Re: What is a good cheap pocket trumpet? I bought one (a Jupiter in silverplate) but then realized a cornet didn't take up much more room in the car and sounded MUCH better. I sold the pocket and now keep an inexpensive cornet in the car and for when I travel. |

I do not perform with it, it goes into the suitcase on business trips. It is in tune, mechanically sound, easy to play and the sound is OK. Most important, my SilentBrass fits inside so practicing in the hotel works! I picked it out of 5 or 6 that were in stock. There were a couple of real dogs in the lot. Play before you pay!
