![]() | What trumpet for warm, dark, mellow sound? I'm looking for a trumpet for up to $1500, preferably a vintage but not necessarily, with a warm, dark, mellow sound. Any ideas? |

![]() | Re: What trumpet for warm, dark, mellow sound? My main horn, a Kanstul-made Besson 709, can be very warm, dark, and mellow. You can obtain one for much less than $1500.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: What trumpet for warm, dark, mellow sound? That's actually a very good advice and should be actual for most trumpets. I addition to use my embouchure actively to achieve different sounds out of my trumpets, I am also using different mps as "helpers" Bright/scream: Taylor ML2 Normal, whatever that is: Schilke 16 Soft, as in nice melodies and hymn tunes: Taylor ML Flumpet Hairy/airy: Taylor ML flugel mp with adaptor (And of course, a lot of combinations with my TRSS soundsleeves). AND: experimenting with mps is cheaper than buying new trumpets
