![]() | What's a used Bach worth ? Hi folks, Wondering what a Bach Strad. LTS 180 37 made mid 1980's is worth? The silver finish is mainly intact however it is pitted around valve casing and has a small patch around wear on the 3rd valve slide. The horn plays well. Any thoughts on what one should pay for a horn like this? |

Outside wear is one thing, but have you looked at the inside, like down the leadpipe? That will be much more telling. How is the valve compression? Are you buying the horn to play on, or as an investment: something to restore and keep around until it's really old and then a collector's item? All these variables determine value far better than an aging Vulgano's wild guess.

| Pianissimo User | Re: What's a used Bach worth ? It depends on what you are considering worth. If you wanted to resell it, you could get anywhere from $600 to $1200 for it. If taking it to a Retail store you would of course get less due to the stores need to make a profit on the resale. If you sold it on ebay or on the marketplace you may get more. If you are looking to declare a value for your renters or home owners insurance policy (something I recommend to everyone to do) I would declare the worth as more due to the replacement cost if the horn was stolen. New Bach's sell in retail stores for around $2200. Josh
