Where to get your valves rebuilt

After playing numerous flugels, I've decided to just get the valves rebuilt on my 1970's Olds copper bell. It's kind of like the Cousenon...doesn't blow well, doesn't slot well, bad intonation, but MAN WHAT A SOUND THAT HORN HAS!

Anyway, the valves are pitted and the plating has come off the valves in spots. If you were going to get a similar valve job, where would you send your horn?

I had Jim Becker at Osmun Music (Arlington, MA) do the valve rebuild on my '53 NY Bach. He did an outstanding job! I would recommend him highly for the task!

mattdalton has a spectacular aura about
Mike -
I've had valve overhauls on two trumpets done by Dr. Valve (Steve Winans), and can't recommend him highly enough. I'm sure that Jim Becker and Charlie Melk would do a fine job too, but Steve is a specialist in this regard and is worth your consideration.

It's nice to hear that an old horn will be given an extension of useful life. Best of luck with this, and let us know how this turns out.

So, Mike, who did you pick?

I am surprised that nobody mentioned Brass Bow to do this job.
