![]() | Why is nobody snatching up a Holton T401? I am not related to the seller and I have no financial interest in selling the trumpet. I just cannot figure out why the following great trumpet is not selling: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=005&sspagename=STRK%3AME WA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=150111676797&rd=1&rd=1 That is a intermediate Holton T401 silver trumpet. For those who don’t know, the 401 is a very good intermediate trumpet of the same nature as a Bach 200, and Bach 200’s are snatched up on eBay rather quickly at rather high prices. But nobody snatched this one up when it was for sale for $175, and now it is for sale for $150. I have seen silver Yamaha 2320’s and silver Bach 300’s sell for much more than that, and they are not nearly as good as the intermediate level Holton T401. As someone in a trumpet forum once said: “If my memory serves me correctly, the 401 is also known as the Galaxy. I've never played one but have heard some good things about them. I think they were considered intermediate horns” … “Yes, they renamed the Galaxy to the 401. If you mean by opportunity as in able to go and try it out. I suggest you would do that instead of asking us if its worth it. Though...for me, I love this darn horn a lot to the point I even got the cornet and that's only with limited experiences with playing other instruments which were mostly student models.” … “Well, I'm not sure if they change the specifications over the decade of its production but the Galaxy is .459 with a 5" bell.” - quoted from http://www.trumpetherald.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=30090&highlight=t401 So why isn’t someone snatching up this great intermediate level silver trumpet? It seems such a shame to see such a great horn being orphaned. - morris |

Starting bid is set at $149, 5 days to go on auction, so I bet there will be a lot of interest in that one and the price will soar up when "crunch time" comes and it will not be orphaned. I have been following a number of horns and most jump out of my range in the frenzied last minute bidding, or sooner! |

Seller brought it back at $150 and it still failed to sell. It is a *great* intermediate silver trumpet that apparently nobody wants because of the dent at the back / small end of the bell as seen in the photo. I'm am sure the seller would sell it to you if you contacted him by going to that eBay page at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=005&sspagename=STRK%3AME WA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=150111676797&rd=1&rd=1 then click the seller's name, and then on the next eBay page tell eBay that you want to send a message to the seller (contact link is at left side of page). - morris | |
