| WT C Trumpet or Flip Oakes C I got to use a Silver Flip Oakes C trumpet over the Holidays and really Love it as much as my Silver Bb WT. Question: it seems to always be refered to as a Flip Oakes C and not really a WT, Is that correct? THANKS Bill |

| Re: WT C Trumpet or Flip Oakes C Hello Bill, Yes, that is correct the Flip Oakes 'C' trumpet does not have "Wild Thing " imprinted on the bell. Even though it really is as to what it is, and how it's setup and made etc. When this horn was designed, TPIN's Michael Anderson, who was one of the persons involved in this project advised me, that in the "C" trumpet market, it would be best not to imprint Wild Thing on the bells, as that market would perhaps be too serious to have Wild Thing imprinted on the bell. IMO and many others that have bought this instrument, all say it's one of the very best on the market. It sounds like a good Bach, just more sound. At the ITG in Fort Worth, this year it attracted some of the top names, who were all very impressed. I have just recently had a customer sell his $8,000.00 "C" trumpet and order a Flip Oakes 'C' trumpet, along with a Flip Oakes WT Flugel. He already owned the FO WT Bb Trumpet, and the Short model WT Cornet, all four in Goldplate. In the legit, field all of my instruments do very, very well. | Re: WT C Trumpet or Flip Oakes C [quote="Flip Oakes"]Hello Bill, Yes, that is correct the Flip Oakes 'C' trumpet does not have "Wild Thing " imprinted on the bell. Even though it really is as to what it is, and how it's setup and made etc. I probably should have mentioned, that yes there are a few Flip Oakes 'C' trumpets out there that do say Wild Thing on the bells, these were marked by mistake with the wrong logo, or stencil by mistake, at Kanstul, at the time of manufacturing. It was just mis- communication on our part, as to which of my horns are WT's and which are not, no biggie. In the end, I didn't want to ruin the integerity of those instruments by buffing out the name, and having it re-done, so I just left it as it was. It's the very same horn though. Since I have re-designed the Logo's and now hopefully there is no more confusion as to which one to use. There is even 1 WT short model cornet out there that Wild Thing was mis-spelled. It was spelled WLID THING, and even I didn't see it. I sent that horn to Germany... When the customer contacted me and told me about it, I had my distributior in the UK exchange it. My UK Distributor sold it to a fellow in the UK, he then sold it and then, it was owned by 2 different guys in Australia, one who know is a Zeus Dealer. He sold it to someone now who lives in the USA. That cornet has been a world traveler. That horn should have frequent flyer miles. It could now go on vacation... | Hi Flip, Thanks for your note. BTW your WLID Thing Short Cornet is alive and well in Chicago. Stephen Williams was kind enough to send it my way, and it gets played every week. It may have a few miles on it, but its still mint. Thanks again for your support. Regards Bill |

| Hi Bill, They ARE awesome aren't they! If everyone had a way to try 'em locally . . . Oh well, bad idea! Flip could never produce 'em with the 8+ hours averaged going though and enhancing the completed horns he picks up to enhance and make 'em worthy of his name. Thanks for posting! Warmest regards, Tom |
