Yamaha 6310B Info wanted.

Just purchased a Yamaha 6310B, lacquer finish, gold brass bell. It's on the way. Always wanted to try one. I play medium bore Martins and have wanted a Schilke B-6 to try as well. The 6310B seemed like a horn with a good rep and a design I might like.

What I am looking for is any input from folks who have played or are playing a 6310B... info on the design... history ... info on pros who have used them... basically anything related. I just like knowing about the horns I try. Thanks in advance for all input.

Well, nobody seems to have anything for me on this horn. Mine will arrive in less than a week. I will compare it to my .453 bore Committee and my #1 small bore Handcraft Imperial (CHarlie melk leadpipe installed) and post my thoughts. As these were so well promoted by Bob McCoy and Bobby Shew, I thought there would be players who are familiar with them.

Re: Yamaha 6310B Info wanted.

Got it. Beautiful condition. Blows very much like my Committee as far as feel. Great tone range. Lights up like a comet when pushed. Getting up high is easy. Still fat, but crisp, down low at low pressure. I'd love to compare this to a Schilke B-6. All this after a half hour of playing. More to come... but I am very pleased. Nice looking with the rose brass bell and lacquer finish. Sweet looking. Oh yes, nice valves.
