![]() | Yamaha 8335 Xeno I wanted to find out if anyone is playing on this horn (Yamaha 8335 Xeno) and what do they think of if. Anyone playing the Shotblast model? The good, the bad,....? Im currently having issues with my bach and am looking to possibly switch to Yamaha. I have played them in the store, I noticed that on the whole I liked the way the horns play. Im looking for a flexible horn- as Im playing everything form orchestra to jazz ( i know its not all about the horn- but having the right equipment makes some difference) Any comments would be greatly appreciated

![]() | What problems are you experiencing on your Bach? I personally find my Bb easier to play, and I like the sound a little better (although the Bach's I have played on sound very similar). However, intonation is not good. I haven't played Bach's enough to be able to compare the two brands, but if I blow everything straight out and listen for where the horn wants to resonate, it isn't always where the pitch should be.

![]() | The main problem is the intonation of the horn in the upper register. Im aware that for example certain notes have their problems, but after playing b (above the staff) 1/2valves, the C is horridly flat. THe higher you go, the worse it seems go get. The notes speak clearly and I dont use pressure (not a support issue). As an example for Strauss alpine sypmohny (playing it on Bb in addition to the standard C) the eminor arpeggio speaks but when hitting the high E - well its very flat.

| Mezzo Forte User | I have a Xeno 8335RGS. I found it free blowing and had pretty nice slotting, especially in the lower register/pedal tone register. I can't exactly say anythign about the upper register, seeing as I struggle with notes above the A/Bb right above the staff. I liked the response of the horn, but I have noticed that the valves are a little noisy. It seems that the top parts that screw off tend to come loose. Those are just my observations. I hope I was helpful. Lara

![]() | My first post here! I play a 8335rg shotblast trumpet. I love it to death!!! However it is probably not the best all round trumpet for some, as it has a darkish , mellow tone. The sound and feel of the regular silver plated 8335RGS is quite a bit different. It is wonderful horn for small group jazz playing. You really have to play one to find out. The other Xeno I really liked was the regular 8335.I thought it had a very rich sound (not quite as foccused as the Bach 37 I was playing then). My valves are the best I have ever had. |

![]() | Xeno 8335 si absolutly a beautiful horn, with flexibility and power, but if you will play both jazz and classical, then may i suggest the 8310Z bobby shew model, it's a very flexible horn, i've tryed it myself, it's an easy-playing horn, but if you like power and dark, strong sound, 8335 is the way to go, hope that helped |
