In a week or two, im gonna be lookin at either the new NY C trumpet or the Chicago...

i've played some chicagos (~5) and i liked them, and really loved one of them (best C trumpet i ever touched.)

How does the NY compare? Whats the dish on these?

Thanks!

patdublc is an unknown quantity at this point
I tried a few of each. They're both great horns. These aren't very good technical terms, but I felt like the resistance point for the NY was closer to the mouthpiece whereas the CHS was deeper in the horn. I liked the feel CHS better, so I bought it. I've used it on several gigs & find it to be the most flexible and easy to play C that I've ever played.

I recently did a review in the horns forum that included the Yamaha Chicago. It is a great horn. BUT I would reccomend a look at the Stage 1 C trumpet. IMO it outplays the chicago hands down. Great feel, even tone, in tune, and easy and secure to play.

Contact Felix at NYTC. The one I had for about two weeks was Serial #01, so I dont know how long until they are in full production.
