| Mezzo Piano User | Yamaha Fleugal valve top thread (problem?) Every time I take the damn valve caps off to oil em it takes me forever to get em back on. It's so tough to get the threads started correctly. On occasion I get lucky, but rarely. It's been like this since I got the horn and I bought it brand new. Is this common with these or do you think I got one with funky threads? Can I do anything about it? I never, ever have the problem with my Lawler horns. Thanks, gregc |

| I occasionally have similar problems and I tend to get oil on my hands and valve casing since the 731(and all Yamaha flugels?) are bottom sprung and have very close tolerances. My solution? I never take the caps off unless I'm cleaning. To oil the valves I put a few drops down the leadpipe and move each valve down in sequence until they're done. No more messy hands or fiddling with caps. |

| Spin the caps backwards until they catch and then tighten. If they are slighly crossthreaded and you try to tighten them they'll bind up and get more crossthreaded. Hope this helps. Chris |
