Yamaha Platinum Trumpet

I remember seeing info on this horn in the ITG Journal several years ago. Has anyone ever seen or played one? They were only about $125,000 each.

Wow ... an expensive Yamaha (oxymoron?). Worth way more than a Monette even.

I wonder what that kind of metal would sound like. Sterling Silver has a lot of colorful overtones. Might it be similar?

why, of course...

i have THE matched set -

Bb, C, rotary valve Bb & C, cornet, & flug

all in lovely platinum, tuned at the factory, w/case & mpc!!

got them on sale for $600,000 k.

ok, joke is over...does it really cost that much? james galway plays a platinum plated flute. wonder how much it was?

there are plating metals much more expensive than platinum, too.
i wonder how they sound.....

GordonH has a spectacular aura about
Platinum plating would not be that expensive.

Is platinum not too soft to make trumpets from (if its solid platinum) ?

... and what's so bad about brass? It's been used for a couple thousand years ... still sounds good to me.

As usual, some people are still trying to "re-invent the wheel". Getting some education, they think they're suddenly "smart" ... only to discover (later) that they "out-smarted" themselves.

Remember that axiom, "...you cain't polish a turd!" (old Southern expression" ??

At that price, I wonder if it comes with a good trumpet player to play it, or if it plays all by itself?
