| I bought a new Yamaha piccolo in '94 and the serial number is 10xx, so it is probably around then. edit... I just looked at my Yamaha flugel which was purchased new in 1995 and the serial number is 20xx. |

| Forte User | My Yamaha Bb is a 6345, number 1100, bought in 1985. mmccourt- if you wouldn't mind, what's the model number on the 2nd valve casing? If it's a 6445H, it may be about the same age as my C, which I bought in the early 90's (#1183). |

| So, do each type of horn (i.e. Picc, Flugel, C, etc.) have different serial numbering systems? If you purchased a horn with a higher s/n than mine 10 years prior, I think they must. |

| Fortissimo User | Yamaha used to put an "A" in the s/n if it was a horn built (assembled?) in USA. They also used to have a serial number "finder" in their main website but that site has been updated and I can't find the s/n info in the revised version. Your best bet is to go to the website "yamaha.com" and then get into the support section and just ask them. |

| I don't know. But I saw a friend of mine tonight who has a Mark II Yamaha C trumpet that he said he bought in 96 and that is in the 30,000 so I think mine must be quite a bit older. Quote:

| Forte User | Can't be that much older than mine...I think the G is for gold brass bell; I know the H is for Heavywall construction, something Yamaha came out with in the late 80's. Trying to remember, but I must've bought my C around '92 or '93. Yeah...each model line gets a new serial number series. |

| C: YTR8445 #458819 Bb: YTR8335G #454750 I assumed the serial numbers didn't start over with each model, which means there is only one of each Yamaha with a given serial number in the world. I also have no idea why my model numbers have no "S" in the name, seeing as to how they are silver plated anyway. |
