Yamaha Xeno C/Bb

Does anyone know if I can get a tuning slide for a Yamaha Xeno C trumpet to tune it to Bb? Any good?

Thanks!

You would need a new tuning slide as well as all your throw slides(first valve, etc).

I don't think it's availble for Yamahas. Bach has a kit for C trumpets to tune to Bb. I wouldn't anticipate the tuning to be very good either. On most horns that play in two(or more) keys, like Eb/D and Bb/A piccolos, one side is almost always better than the other.

I think I'd prefer to just carry two horns around. Well, actually, I do carry two horns around.

I wouldn't buy any horn that is tuned in two different keys. Nothing good can come more than.

Why? You won't buy most piccolos or do what most people do for a D/Eb?

As trumpets get bigger(longer) the difference between each key gets substantially bigger. Even piccolos play better in 1 key than the other. Having a tunable bell, so one can change the bell, improves things substantially but IMHO no trumpet that plays in 2 keys plays equally well in both. I have an old Yamaha D trumpet that plays better in D than my friend's Eb/D.
