![]() | You would need a new tuning slide as well as all your throw slides(first valve, etc). I don't think it's availble for Yamahas. Bach has a kit for C trumpets to tune to Bb. I wouldn't anticipate the tuning to be very good either. On most horns that play in two(or more) keys, like Eb/D and Bb/A piccolos, one side is almost always better than the other. I think I'd prefer to just carry two horns around. Well, actually, I do carry two horns around.

![]() | As trumpets get bigger(longer) the difference between each key gets substantially bigger. Even piccolos play better in 1 key than the other. Having a tunable bell, so one can change the bell, improves things substantially but IMHO no trumpet that plays in 2 keys plays equally well in both. I have an old Yamaha D trumpet that plays better in D than my friend's Eb/D. Larry Malin |
