My son's school band has one among the other clarinet players with a RED clarinet.
I'm sorry I said clarinet twice in one sentence!

Then I think you need to get him this horn before the red clarinets get a chance to multiply!

I guess even a trumpet can go over to the dark side.
I can't wait until somebody says the horn plays darker than a regular 8310 and someone else swears it is really does. Then somebody else will want to know if they should get a silver or gold mouthpiece to go with it.

Or one of those plastic mouthpieces with LED's in it that light up in time with the music.

I don't feel a "showman's" horn, such as the black Martin Committee, on Peter McNeil's post, used behind a music stand is proper for such an instrument, or a demonstration of a wise decision, because it is behind a stand. I feel inevitably, the decision would bother myself more than my band-mates.

However, if I have a stage attire that may require a black sequin and rhinestone jacket, then I would definitely have something like one of those Black Martins in my collection.

Nachos Libres will become famous soon enough
Re: Yamaha YTR-8310ZBP Limited Edition Black Lacquer Bb Trumpet with Custom Phoenix E

I just received one in the mail today. I had been looking for an 8310Z to compliment my 37 Strad and decided to get one of these since they are limited edition and I really liked the look of the black.

The horn itself is a lot more free-blowing and lighter than my Strad and the black is more of a flat black than a glossy black IMO (which is good for me). Although I haven't played on a silver or regular lacquered 8310Z I can't tell that the black lacquer makes any difference with the sound. I like it but wonder if I would like the silver version better.

Re: Yamaha YTR-8310ZBP Limited Edition Black Lacquer Bb Trumpet with Custom Phoenix E

One of the local music stores in Orange County (Jim's Music in Tustin for anyone that is interested) has one of those as well as a Concept TT and a Phaeton. I usually don't care for colored lacquers like that but I have to admit, this one looks pretty sweet. I may swing by this weekend to try it out.

Re: Yamaha YTR-8310ZBP Limited Edition Black Lacquer Bb Trumpet with Custom Phoenix E

Bobby Shew gave a trumpet masterclass at the university here and there was a doctor there from North Dakota, I believe, who was playing the eighth one of these. It was a beautiful horn.
