1954 Blessing Standard

I have a 1954 Blessing Standard in pretty good condition. It was my Dad's trumpet so there is a lot of sentimental value. My kid used it to learn on until I bought him a new one a few years ago. It could probably use an overhaul after 50+ years. I pulled the first valve out to look it over and the cork is now a pile of crumbs. So yeah, it could use some TLC.

My question is where do I get parts or an overhaul kit for this trumpet? It is in great shape otherwise. No dents or any structural issues. The water key cork is a bit jagged too so I'm sure there is some leakage there. So any advice would be great.

I miss hearing my Dad play but I can still show some respect to his instrument. Maybe if I get it refreshed my kid can play it again for practice.

Re: 1954 Blessing Standard

Take it to a repair shop near you. The people there will probably know what to do to freshen up your horn. If your local repair shop doesn't do the trick, there are other well known repairmen like Charlie Melk that will know what to do.

The Bandroom Parts/Pads: Trumpet Tuba Saxophone Clarinet has some Blessing repair parts.

You might have to take the horn to a repair tech for custom made replacement corks. I can't find anyone selling those.

Re: 1954 Blessing Standard

I'm not even sure there are any trumpet repair shops around here. I will check out that bandroom.biz site. thanks.
