![]() | Any idea about this one A friend of mine has this horn for sale: Holton trumpet - Serial number 74660 - bell is engraved all the way to the crook! -*Gold plated -gorgeous and near perfect!* Includes good case, lyre, and an original Frank Holton two-piece 'Heim moded' mouthpiece that is also gold plated. A gold plated Holton with unbelievable engraving. A two-piece Heim mouthpiece. I played it, and it was solid and smooth. Anyone have any ideas about the horn? Jim

![]() | Hi, Frank Holton originally had his factory in Chicago and built a reputation of making pretty darn good instruments. In 1918 he relocated the factory to Elkhorn, Wisconsin and mainly employed a whole new staff. While not quite as highly regarded today, obviously the guys in Elkhorn must have done something right!!!!! That's a beautiful trumpet and it would be interesting to hear more about it, such as model, if stated, plu the bore size, etc. This beautiful, presentation grade trumpet dates to around 1922. Tom |

![]() | From my friend who is a brass tech: There's no model number on the horn. The engraving on the bell simply says 'Frank Holton - Elkhorn, Wis.'. The receiver is marked 'LP' (for low pitch I would guess). The serial number is 74660. The bore (measured INSIDE the 2nd valve slide) is .460. The two-piece mouthpiece is engraved 'Heim Model - Frank Holton'. Jim
