![]() | Anybody out there playing a Conn 48B? I've been trolling for one on the usual sites. What are their playing characteristics? I have a 40B that has incredible valves and a great center, but seems to have a small bore and is really bright. I can really blow flames with it, but I can't seem to mellow it down for jazz.

![]() | Re: Anybody out there playing a Conn 48B? Both the 40B and 48B have a .458" bore. I have spent a bit of time playing a 48B, and thought it was a pretty dark horn. YMMV.

![]() | Re: Anybody out there playing a Conn 48B? In my case right now is my 48B and my Bach 43 Sterling Bell. The 48B seems to be more even in all registers than my Bach. One odd quirk is that I cannot play with any good results a Monette Prana mouthpiece with the 48B. I have to use my non-Prana B6 instead and It plays very well. I actually use it as one of my church/wedding horns. |
