| Bach Mount Vernon New York #7G ? Hello Cornet fans. A few weeks back. I won a nice Brass King Master cornet 1947 model. It got under the e-bay radar as a King Trumpet. Won it at a very low price. Liked it so much. I wanted another. Just won this recent one off e-bay restored and rebuilt by "Byron Autrey" or so I am told. But paid a good price for it. If it is everything stated. I will be O.K. with the deal. With the 1947 model came two Mount V.B.N.Y. cornet m.p.'s. One a #7 and one A#7G not C. It looks similar to a newer 8C Bach maybe a little thinner rim and a med. shallow cup. Was used the most due to plate loss. As the #7 looks like new. I am sure it was a lead m.p.'s. Anyone heard of Bach making this one as standard issue back then? Wonder if Curry would be interested in making a copy ? If this a rare find. One final question. These old Bachs fit this 1947 King Master mouthpiece reciever correctly. But my latest Bach's and one older Corp one all fit a little looser with a tad of wiggle. Why? May have to keep a eye out for a 3C Mt. V. B. N.Y. cornet m.p. and a 1 1/2B Mt. V. B. N.Y. cornet m.p. Maybe Currys older versions have same barrel taper as these older ones. Anybody know for sure? Thanks for any help or advice. Hello Tom Turner. I took your advice on the article reply's on these King Master cornets. I love them. Great for playing in a Church setting on those Great Hymnals. You were right. The med. bore is just right for these cornets. Now one day maybe a Reynolds Argenta cornet to round it all off. Thank you all for your valuable info. That you all have posted on our various trumpet sites. You have helped this come back player make it back. GOD Bless you all and your families. |
