Bach Selmer Signet Silver Trumpet - Help!

Just acquired this trumpet, serial number 73825. With so many names on the horn, I don't know which list of online serial numbers to rely upon to date the horn.

Designed by Vincent Bach - Signet - Selmer USA

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Re: Bach Selmer Signet Silver Trumpet - Help!

I have never found a list for Selmer USA instruments. The Signet was going at least from 1950 per an ad I saw on ebay. Here is a wiki entry on the Selmer operation over the years. I am not sure when the Bach connection was. You can hit the links on the wiki to get more info. Yours may be from the 60's or 70's after the Bach corporation was acquired in 61.The Selmer Company - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Maybe Conn-Selmer, the current group under Steinway ownership may have a list somewhere. If I find something else, I will add on.
There is a passage on the Kirmser's Buescher/Bundy serials that After Selmer purchasd Buescher in 63 the "400" Buescher became the Signet and the "Aristocrat" became the "Bundy"; same looks but drastically different bore dimensions.

Thanks! From my research I figured it was after 1963, but that's all I could figure out.

Re: Bach Selmer Signet Silver Trumpet - Help!

I was sent some information that may shed some more light on this horn. I have been trying to find information on a Selmer Cornet that I have and have been recently put in touch with Classic Trumpet | Vintage - Custom - Hybrids so far Charmaine has been able to shed some light, here are the Cliff notes :

" Your cornet was made shortly after V Bach joined Selmer......V Bach used his earlier Mercury model tooling as a guide & built a decent horn (like yours(my cornet) ). The name used for it was Bundy Selmer (+he added, designed by V Bach). Sadly, he also added the Signet moniker to label certain models - this and another, (more lightweight horn with a first valve trigger). I say its unfortunate, because the original Selmer Signet disappeared! That horn was a large bore trumpet - great for jazz - endorsed by Harry James. It was a duplicate or stencil of the Blessing Artist - a great all time horn."

I would get in touch with Charmaine, she could probably fill you in with greater detail.

Bundy, Signet, Selmer . . . sort of like Chevy, Olds, Cadillac. If I recall correctly.
