Bel Air??

Hey all, I'm new to the forum and to the art of trumpeting. I recently inherited a trumpet which probably dates back to around the 50's or 60's. I was wondering if anyone could tell me a little more about it. I'd like to know what key its in and what style it was designed for etc. The only markings on it is "Bel Air" in whimsickle writing at the base of the bell, and 451on the side of second valve.
Any insight would be appreciated
-Cheers

Re: Bel Air??

chances are its in the key of Bb those are the most common. As far as style goes, while certain horns are designed with a specific genre in mind any horn can be used to play anything you want to play

Re: Bel Air??

It may well be a stencil made by a major instrument maker. I haven't heard of it, nor is there a entry in the Horn-u-copia site's trade name list. Pictures are postable here from a website like photobucket, flickr, etc. Some times you can get an idea from the construction features of the horn. If it was foreign imported it should have a country of origin on it somewhere.
