Hi,

I've got a Besson Flughorn New Standard too, and if I well understood what is indicated on the site Besson, mine would have been fabricated around 1895 because the serial number is 480040, is that it ?!

Oh Biwan, I share your questioning. I also have a Besson flugel with a question. Mine is s/n 103361 and according to the aforementioned websites was manufactured in 1917. My old roommate who sold it to me claimed it was "one of the last Bessons to come off the line from the original(?) factory in 1972. The horn is in absolute mint condition, and I'm confused. Any ideas? Were parts stockpiled for later assembly and release, so that the s/n is a rather arbitrary way to determine date of manufacture?

From the serial list I use from http://saxworx.com/boozy2/htm Boosey and Hawkes ,(Besson was owned by them and used this list numbers) yours would have been made around 1970. My 8-10 trumpet has serial 250xxx and was made between 55-60, as no detailed list is apparently available.

Here is a link to the great info in the Cornet Compendium on French and English Bessons in the earlier days.
