Boston Cornet

Just acquired a pretty beat old Boston cornet that I figure is from around 1915 based on the bell marking. Anyway, it's complete except for a broken mouthpiece receiver. I have the receiver but the end of it that is inserted into the leadpipe has been broken off and is missing. Anyone know of a good source for these parts or someone knowledgeable about the old Boston's who can fix me up with a replacement part or repair? Thanks

Bill, wander your browser off to http://www.csee.umbc.edu/~artola/boston/ to see what Leigh McK did for Paul Artola's Boston 3-Star. I'm sure he could fix your horn up right quick. I believe he's done more than one of these horns so far.

That's a nice job! The pictures are really helpful as it shows how the receiver should fit into the horn and what it should look like. I think the pipe that came with mine is the "A" pipe. Thanks for the lead.

Another amazing repair facility here in the NW.

Check out that great Boston in the gallery section. or Tom Turner if you are lurking....(I still haven't found a Boston available that I could afford and even the "B" word makes me covet to own one of those great instruments...especially having the opportunity to test ride that Boston shown in the gallery link from here in the Seattle area.
If you notice the look of Dan's face (sec.photo down on the STAFF page).....U can almost hear him thinking...."How am I going to keep that old BAD-DON from begging to play this beautiful old horn, every time he darkens my door.
