screamingmorris has a spectacular aura about
Conn 5A versus 38A

I have tried a 1962 Conn 5A cornet.
A 1967 one is seen at
The Conn Loyalist

I have never played a 1962 Conn 38A Connstellation cornet with Coprion under the nickel.
A 1966 non-Coprion one is seen at
The Conn Loyalist

If anyone here has played both, please compare the following for me:
Restriction - Does the 38A feel more open, require more air than the 5A?
Tone - Does the 38A sound more Teutonic or more mellow than the 5A?
Any other comparisons you might want to add?

- Morris

I only have about 15 hours to decide whether I want to bid on one, so that deadline is breathing down my neck.
I'd hate to bid on one and then find out afterward that it is more free-blowing and Teutonic than the Conn 5A I already have.
My son thought about buying one a couple of months ago and I had hoped to try his out, but he didn't get it so I never had the chance to try one before buying.
I should probably just wait and get a late 60's Olds Studio cornet, if I can ever find one I can afford. It would probably have the perfect bore size and tone for me.
