![]() | Conn Connstellation dating Hi I am new here. I found a Conn Connstellation trumpet when dealing with my parents' estate. My older brother played trumpet in the 1060's so I assume this is from that era. It says CG Conn LTD Elkhart, USA, is in original case with two mouthpieces Looks to be the silver nickel plated with brass. Can anyone help me with dating it or finding serial numbers/ 36 or 38?? Sorry, I played clarinet......thanks |

![]() | Re: Conn Connstellation dating Wow...that's old...just about the time of William the Conqueror. Therefore it has to be a relic of some sort of time-travel, dropped by some "modern" day trumpeter when visiting the 1060's. Now...serial number is on 2nd. valve. Model No is right where mouthpiece goes in. (A Constellation is a 36B or 38B). do a google search on Conn and you'll hit a Conn resource page that includes all sorts of GREAT data, and serial number listings. Mid-60's, Constellation = very good vintage horn IF properly cared for. |

![]() | Re: Conn Connstellation dating Sorry I thought I corrected the dates....1960's It has 4 5/8 bell, a B on it and it has a serial number beginning with H52417 (I think that is right, I left the stuff at my Dad's house.) It is not the number on Lars list . original case, 2 mouthpieces....I will have to get the info tomorrow... |

Acc. to another site/table, the numbering system changed after March 1974, and "H" would suggest a manufacturing date of 1980's: http://hornplayer.net/archive/a34.html But, this well may be incorrect. I found this post which suggests a 1966 manufacturing date: http://www.trumpetmaster.com/vb/f140...ing-34402.html (Conn Connstellation Trumpet Dating) I think this is the correct dating.
