Dad's old trumpet - what can you tell me?

I have a 1935 or older Trumpet made by the Vega Company of Boston Mass. Stenciled on the bell is Advanced Trumphal - Vega - made by The Vega Company of Boston Mass.

on the 2nd valve is an LB and the number 35181.

There are a few small dings in the bell, the laquer is worn and the second valve slide has the tab broken off.

Still plays well.

Would like to know more about the trumpet and what it may be worth.

Have some pics but don't know how to get them on here, can e-mail.

Thanks for any help.

Here is the link to the Vega section of Horn-u-copia which should give you some information. You can post photos from an off-site like Photobucket, Flickr, etc.

Hard to say what it would be worth. Ebay is the best determiner. The ones I have seen in the past have gone from $100-$500 or so, depending on condition and model .

http://completed.shop.ebay.com/i.htm..._ipg=50&_rdc=1 Here is an ebay one that sold for $85, from completed sales records.

Vintage Vega Trumpet Silver Standard Boston - eBay (item 260497616890 end time Nov-01-09 06:53:04 PST)

Here is a current listing.

Thanks for the information.

I feel a little foolish for not doing more research myself.

That's ok. If you'd done it yourself, I wouldn't have anything to do.
It takes a while to gain experience in the vintage horns field and develop sources to check or refer someone else to and not sound stupid.
