Question Does anyone recognise this cornet mouthpiece?

My trumpet teacher had me try this mouthpiece, expecting it to sound terrible, but it sounded great for me. When he played it made him sound worse, but it made me sound better. Does anyone know what this is or why it has this effect?

Re: Does anyone recognise this cornet mouthpiece?

Mouthpieces are one of three things that makes trumpet players go broke
(one of the others being trumpets)

Mouthpieces work in mysterious ways, what may work perfectly may not work at for someone else. This can depend on many variables, such as teeth structure, shape of your mouth, lip size, etc.

Stuff happens

Question Re: Does anyone recognise this cornet mouthpiece?

Does anyone know what a mouthpiece like this is called, or if I would be able to find another one. There isn't any writing on the mouthpiece.

Re: Does anyone recognise this cornet mouthpiece?

Looks like an early 20th century cornet mpc to me,
First, I would ask if your teacher would mind selling it to you (if it isn't yours)
if not, its probably a stencil or mass-produced mouthpiece where you'll never find another one exactly like it :-/
However, if you really really like the mouthpiece, you can send it to a shop that copies mouthpieces (osmun, pickett brass, kanstul, etc.)

Re: Does anyone recognise this cornet mouthpiece?

I believe that A. Courtois made cornet mouthpiece in similar shape. But they would have the brand name on it.
