Gautrot Brevete Trumpet

Hello All....I am a musician, though I don't play trumpet, but do play banjo, guitar and mandolin. Anyway, long story short...I recently was give an old trumpet from a relative and know absolutely nothing about it.....Its in fair condition although with a few dents. I believe it is a circa 1900 B flat trumpet...It has the name "Gautrot Brevete" on it and was either retailed or manufactured at "94 Rue D'Angouleme, Paris France". Can anyone tell me anything about this trumpet...if it has any value or collectability...totally green here. I would be interested in selling this instrument...thanks, Cam

Re: Gautrot Brevete Trumpet

Gautrot Breveté - this page talks about a French horn, but gives some info about markings and provenance.

And some info from http://www.angelfire.com/music2/thec...turers_c.html:
Quote:
Couesnon

(Paris 1827-present)

This firm has had a long distinguished history and it is the intention of the writer of this document to provide the historical background necessary to understand the place from which today’s company came. Briefly, the company began in 1827 with GUICHARD, in c1845 it became GAUTROT AÎNÉ, and finally in 1883, we see COUESNON.
I think you'd have to post detailed pictures for any knowledgeable person here to give you a ballpark figure. For a real evaluation of course you would need to pay someone for his/her time. :)

Re: Gautrot Brevete Trumpet

That picture at the web site above is the exact same trumpet that we have.....I don't see a serial number on this..although there is the number 10 (with a little Q above it) at the bottom of the middle valve...I'm going to post a picture tomorrow...thanks again, Cam
