Good Vintage repair?

Hey,

I just got my 1929 Martin Dasant back from my uncle. His Marine repair shop wasn't able to do a lot with it but clean it real well. It still needs some work (I think there's an air leak somewhere; the valves don't sit right, among other things), so my dad and I are looking at taking it to a vintage repair specialist and getting their opinion on whether it's worth fixing up.

Therefore, I need a vintage repair specialist in my area. I'm 20 minutes outside Frederick, Maryland. Areas close to us: Hagerstown, MD; Charlestown, WV; Leesburg, MD. Does anyone have any suggestions? I think I heard something a while back about Mizzell Music, or something like that?

Thanks so much!

--Katrina

Re: Good Vintage repair?

Hi Katrina,

Larry Mizzell in Hagerstown did the repair work on my 1940 Bach Strad. Excellent
repair to the cracked bell rim and general cleaning.

Cheers,

Brian

That's the early stage of making the famous Frankenhorn mod. To gruesome to think of the rest of the operation. Didn't see Igor in the photo.

Actually, it's from the restoration of one of the original CSO Bach C Trumpets.

Read it here:

Re: Good Vintage repair?

Thanks, all. I got in contact with Mr. Mizell and asked him if he'd be OK with meeting with me and my dad to talk about it. I'll probably get ahold of Mr. Pallansch as well. I am in shock as to what he did with the taco bell horn! Mine's not even that bad!

Anyway, between these two guys, they should be able to do something about it. I'll try to keep you posted on how it goes. Thanks!
