Gretsch New Yorker

Can anyone tell me about this trumpet? Here's what it says on the bell: Gretsch New Yorker Czechslovakia. The numbers on the valve casing are: 40, 41,42. Over 41 is the # 6.

Re: Gretsch New Yorker

I have a Gretsch pathfinder long cornet, who's parentage is unknown, but some US stencil of 30's or 40's. Inquiries on your model were made to Horn-u-copia last year, I think. Gretsch records were lost in a fire in the '60's ,I believe. They imported a lot of horns at various times.Yours looks pretty vintage, 20's or 30's, with the bottom 3rd valve slide ring and the adjusting screw on that slide that someone thought was to mark the pitch adjustment between Bflat and A, a configuration that used to be popular back then.
