![]() | Gretsch New Yorker This Gretsch New Yorker is in really good condition for a horn as ancient as it must be. The brass must be the highest quailty. I think it was made in Czechoslovakia (It has that word on the bell). I played the horn and found it to play well for a pee-shooter. It might sound even better with the appropriate mouthpiece. I hope to get a picture or two on here. I'm wondering if such a rare old fine has a high price collectors value? All input is welcome..........crow P.S. Files are too big for this forum. Help without seeing it please? |

| Mezzo Forte User | Re: Gretsch New Yorker Crow, I don't know if I can help or not. I have an old Gretsch Pathfinder that turned out to be a long cornet. Apparently was a stencil made by some US maker. No records around for any Gretsch. On Horn-u-copia there are photos of New Yorkers and some info. Somebody, last year, I think, was enquiring about that model. My horn is also built like a tank, only a couple of tiny dings and decent lacquer and plays well with a cornet MP. There are a lot of Czech trumpets out there that were imported to sell thru US stores, like Wards, Sears, etc. The ones I have seen on ebay look to be of decent quality but not great value. I got mine last year for $35 plus shipping and am listing mine on Craigslist so I can get something else to play with. |

![]() | Re: Gretsch New Yorker Private message "Walter." He's a TM'er. Look under the thread begun by Tom Turner "Vintage Horn Eye Candy." Walt has some posts there. Nice guy. Good photographer. Took me forever to figure out how post a photo the size people could see. Walt was nice enough to nick the smallish one I posted of my Benge C and resized it and posted it. |
