Martin Committee That serial number list would indicate that your trumpet was made in 1946. For bore size, I guess you look for a "1" or a "2" or a "3" or a "*", because that page says: "The Committee came in the following bores:
BTW, did you say $50? . Last edited by ChaseFan; 03-26-2008 at 10:05 PM. | |

![]() | Re: Help with Martin Committee That's a phenomenal purchase. Great find. Mine, in need of some minor repair, a med bore from the same period cost me 900 and I thought that was a bargain. ![]() | Re: Help with Martin Committee Yeah, I got it for $50 bucks! I cannot find any markings such as a *, 1, 2, or 3. However, I have been looking on ebay and have seen horns exactly like mine going for around 1500-3000 dollars. I can't believe that! |

![]() ![]() | Re: Help with Martin Committee $50.00 ! What a score !!!!!!!!!!!! I got my Committee Cornet for $30.00 with a mangled Getzen 300 trumpet. But, I would much rather have the trumpet anyday. As for bore size. If you pull the 2nd valve slide and measure the interior of the slide that you just pulled out, you can determine the bore that way. Do not measure the tube that comes out of the valve block. I use a dial caliper to measure this. If you don't have one, you can pick one up cheap at one of those cheapo discount tool retailers, or any place that sells tools for machinists. You should be able to pick up a cheap one for under $20.00 . Good tool to have around, and not just for musical instruments. Congrats, you lucky dog !!!!!!!!!!!! P.S. - I just measured mine, and it's a .453 bore. |
