How would a Olds Special turn out with same modifications.

Hello reposting this. Since their was a lot of good discussion on the modifying of a OLDS Ambassador trumpet. Has anyone did a OLDS TRI metal Special trumpet. They had very good valves and a fanicer bracing. I wonder with maybe a Silver Pilczuk lead pipe or Bach 43 lead pipe and same mod as the one Kanstul did. With the mix of metals what kind of horn would you have? Are maybe one of the older Studios. Has anyone already tried. Thanks for any input.

Well, I haven't tried it on a later model Special, but I did modify my '47 Special with a Bach 25-O lead pipe, a bach 3rd slide stop rod, and a 1st slide trigger. I am very pleased with the results. I use it in a brass quintet setting and find that the horn works very well. Easy blow, great valves and a good sound.

Good luck!

Bill
