| Forte User | Re: Hurray for first vintage horn! I took my King in to Marshall's yesterday. The tech was hopeful of getting the pipe straightened out, but if a crack appears, a patch would be needed. Should be done in about a week.

![]() | Re: Hurray for first vintage horn! Hello Sungman. You may already know all this. Stork makes a very good short shank V cup Cornet m.p. Cups come in med. deep to very deep like the Denis Wicks m.p's. Marcinkiewicz makes a clone Denis Wick short shank m.p. with a better feeling rim than the Denis Wick m.p.'s. If you know for sure what rim size you like, that helps a lot. Most Cornet rim sizes start around 16.50MM,which means they are the older Bach 3C rim size to a Bach 1 1/2c rim size. The Vacchiano Storks can be bought in a starting rim size of 15.75MM and still come with a deep V cup, pumped with a D Symphonic backbore. Stork has those lip size to rim sizing charts, to help you get the right size mouthpiece, to your type lips and embouchure. Unless your much older King Master has a m.p. reciever like the older Olds Cornet recievers. The shanks were closer to a Flugel horn shank, these above mentioned company's, short shank m.p's should fit properly. Good luck. |

| Forte User | Re: Hurray for first vintage horn! Well, I have just picked the Master up from the shop. The tech did a nice job of getting the dents out of the leaderpipe without cracking the metal. Plays very open with a big tone with either a 7c or my King 7M. Somewhat more robust sound than my Besson, which has a sweeter tone quality. I'm going to enjoy playing it in my bands. Will compliment my 609 trumpet well.
