Info Needed on Mystery Horn

Hello all,
I was perusing Craigslist and came across this horn. Seller claims there are NO identifying info. I figured it might be a C horn, but was hoping some of you could help.

Thanks

Re: Info Needed on Mystery Horn

Welcome. That is an interesting cornet. Very long bell pipe, even for a long cornet, but the rest looks pretty normal to me. The uploader here hasn't worked for some time. Maybe you should request closeups of the bell and valve casing? The third slide seems a bit long also. I know nothing about C cornet conversions, so can't comment further. Interested in finding out about this one.

Thanks MFFan....I haven't read the entire Trumpet vs. Cornet thread, but could this just be some B flat cornet? I requested more pictures this morning...curiouser and curiouser

A C cornet would have a shorter bell than a B-flat, not longer. This is probably a rather long B-flat cornet.

Re: Info Needed on Mystery Horn

Usually, there is some markings on a horn, although I had a 30's Czech trumpet once that had nothing other than the country of origin stamped under the leader pipe. I have never seen, to my knowledge, a C cornet conversion, but there have been other threads by people examining the idea. It may be a Bb, I guess. My Getzen has a pretty long bell. I presume the seller is not a player or knows nothing about it?
