    Julius Keilwerth Toneking trumpet

There is a strange trumpet Mislisted on eBay under King trumpets - it looks like a sax almost. Has anybody ever seen or heard of this horn? I never saw anything like it. And I've been to 3 rodeos and a goat-roping.JULIUS KEILWERTH TONEKING DELUXE 3000 TRUMPET TONE KING - eBay (item 350305996800 end time Jan-23-10 13:04:19 PST)

Thanks. I went and googled and found the site. A 'saxtrumpet' they say. I would bid on it myself just to try it but the seller ships only to USA so I am relieved of that temptation. Thanks again.

I played one and it basically sounded like a student horn with questionable intonation and was awkward to hold and finger. It had a stuffy feel to the playing. Construction quality was questionable also. Nothing Special just kind of odd. If I was a clown performing at kid partys I would maybe consider it .....LOL

Well, it's not going for very much right now, and no man can be angry with a woman who buys him a guitar, so maybe Flugelgirl could take a chance on it. I play a little sax as well so it looks interesting to hold. But then, I'm old and crazy, and not the best choice of advisors.

Keilwerth is a German instrumentmaker, he made trumpets untill c. 1980. Toneking Deluxe was for professionals but I don't know about Deluxe 3000. Due to the serialnumber this one must date from his last trumpetyears. DEG made them too.

This one is a bit more ergonomic?

Horns like these are really just fun toys to collect, whether they play well or not. If it plays badly, hang it on the wall. If it plays well, have some fun with it and maybe display it apropriately. If it doesn't play at all, make a really cool lamp out of it!

Only one post ever, and it is to imply that the horn in question just might be pro quality. Very subtle.

I wonder if the private auction is hiding any shill bidders.
