Re: King Liberty

Hello G. I just had a friend bring me over a old King Liberty trumpet. Ser#89636. It has the old felts and corks to reference by. But they are old as well. This is a parts horn. Corks and felts are used to dampen valve noise and valve alighnment. Any music tech today has all sizes and better material. And how they are combined does not matter. As long as valves line up with port holes. Hope this helps.

Re: King Liberty

Contact any one of the skilled repairmen on the forum like Jim Becker and Charlie Melk. Jim custom made nylon bumpers on my 1957 Conn 38B instead of the old corks and it transformed the horn.

Re: King Liberty

I get mine from here:
eBay Store - The Bandroom: Parts, Trumpet, Tuba

The valve springs, spit vallve springs, felts and corks are $24>95 plus shipping. They come in a set. I have gotten several sets for my Liberty horns from 1927 to 1948, my newest. Very good seller no problems with product or delivery.

Re: King Liberty

Hello Strad Guy. Check with Ole Lou. I sold him a Liberty Parts horn that a friend of mine found in his Attic. It was one of the Early 1920's models. He may have not needed the first valve.Or may have some extras he might part with.As he is also a Music Tech.Hope this helps and good luck.

That old "parts horn" has had more than a little dent removal, a replacement 2nd valve crook, new corks and felts throughout and all new springs. It currently has the valves from one of my other Libertys which are a sloppy fit. My intent is to hone out the cylinders of both of these Libertys and plate up with copper the valves that are serial number matches to the horns. I will follow this plating with an ultra fine lapping job. My 1927 Silvertone came from the factory with copper plated valves and also most of my early Holtons. I just discovered that my very early American Standard cornet also has copper plated valves. I find them to be extremely fast and light in all cases that I have tried.
