Laquer replacement

I'm using Tarn-x to remove verdigris* from my harry peddler. Now this does an excellent job at tarnish removal, but it also does a good job at removing the laquer. can anyone reccomend a replacement laquer?

*I'm only using it to remove spots of verdigris.

Re: Laquer replacement

If your horn was tarnishing at all, then the lacquer was missing in the first place (with the exception, of course, of the slide extensions). The best bet is to get it done by a professional; I don't think any of the "spray on" or "DIY" systems have any longevity in terms of maintaining their finish.

Re: Laquer replacement

Verdigris on the OUTSIDE of a horn? Tarnish yes, but that hard funky green stuff that collects inside the horn?
If the laquer comes off that easy, it is time to have it looked at by a pro. He can disinfect the horn at the same time!
