![]() | Re: Martin Handcraft Master Info is tough to find for brasswinds! I just realized my error and have rewritten this post ! Martin did make a Master model saxophone. AKA The Typewriter. This was their top horn prior to the Troubadour, followed by the Imperial, and then the Committee, Magna ... I can't help you with it's relative quality, but the sax was an excellent horn.

![]() | Re: Martin Handcraft Master By the way, Martin's model history fom sax to trumpet was usually pretty consistent. For example, the Handcraft Imperial was Martin's top sax and trumpet, followed by the Committee, and later the Magna. So it suggests that the Master would follow suit and be a top line horn just like the sax. Still no idea of how it compares to the later horns .

![]() | Re: Martin Handcraft Master Well, I picked one up. Its pretty nice and has a serial number of 96420. It is engraved Martin Handcraft "The New Master" The Dallas Music website indicates it might be about 1930. It has been refinished and is in perfect condition. Funny that there is no mention anywhere about a Martin "The New Master" trumpet. Maybe its a bootleg. Greg |

![]() | Re: Martin Handcraft Master Congrat's ! Sounds like a nice horn ! Then again, Martin made everything great back in that era ! My guess would be 1929. Looks like Martin ran this for a short time. My guess is the Imperial took over, and ended the Master's production. Do you have any pics ?

![]() | Re: Martin Handcraft Master My Martin Handcraft Master is really not that great a "player". It plays OK and it is quite beautiful. My wife loves to see me play it. I am used to a larger bore and this one plays like my cornet. I have no idea of the age other than what others have suggested here. I am pleased with it and happy to have it in my collection. The bore measures .438 inside the 2nd valve slide. Greg
