I am lost here, I have a few old trumpets both i played with in high school one is a american prep made by wm frank but the other says miller rasco conservatory with a seral number 1925 it even has real pearl fingering on the valves picked it up for $20 about10 years ago at an antique mall the horn is longer and lower profiled compared to my others and has stumped me. Re: Miller rasco conservatory

Welcome to the Forum. I have never heard of Miller Rasco Conservatory instruments or can find anything in Horn-u-copia From your description it sounds like a "stencil" horn made by some big maker and the style might well be the narrow wrap "peashooter" style. Pictures would be helpful, expecially of the bell letterings. You can paste them here from another site, like photobucket, Flickr, etc.

Re: Miller rasco conservatory

Thanks, it looks about like I thought it would. Here is a picture of a very similar design, a Pan American Cavalier 94B from the Connloyalist site.
The Conn Loyalist

The Conn Loyalist
Here is another similar Pan American.

I think it is a stencil be sold by some particular dealer back in those times, but may be impossible to track down all the details

That was a very wide spread design used by several makers for horns of varying qualities.
I found a google reference to a Rasco Conservatory of Music, 1947, at 442 Broadway, Camden, NJ. http://www.dvrbs.com/camden-streets/...42-10204-b.jpg

This may be the old conservatory at 442 Broadway?

Maybe this Miller Music company had something to do with the generation of your horn? Interesting.

Re: Miller rasco conservatory

Ok thanks to your great info i found out there was a business by the name of rasco conservatory of music , where these trumpets were made for the business was at 443 Broadway, camden NJ. from 1912 to 1947 it is a 2 tone slide (2 piece) unfourtinately the business is no longer there and info is as rare as the insturments liscensed for them, the address is a vacant lot now. Thank you everyone for your help but i think were at the wall for anything else. Instrument plays great though always stood out at school, my teacher even liked playing it every now and again. I wish i had an original MP this one has a blessing 13.

Re: Miller rasco conservatory

Glad to help. It is fun investigating stencils, and this is probably the most info I have come up with. Who knows what MP was original on this trumpet.Glad it is holding up an plays well. There is a reference book called Langwill's some libraries has that, I believe, has a lot of old music company's listed.
