My old Blessing Super Artist - what to do?

I have a Blessing Super Artist cornet, Serial #1097, that I purchased in the 1950's. The lacquer finish is in poor condition. The bell is dented. Valves appear to be in excellent condition. Blessing #10 mouthpience. Have original case, which is in poor condition. Am looking for advice as to what to do with this instrument. It has some sentimental value from my days in high school band, but little else. Would probably sell after I know what I have. My apologies if I don't handle this posting correctly. Am not a blogger.

Nice horn. It is hard for someone else to give advice like this. What do you wnat to do with it???? Do you play, do you have a child that wants to or may want to play? How sentimental are you about it, enough to keep it as is or fix it up and keep it or give it to your child? The lacquer and bell dents are not that big a deal as long as the valves are good. What ever you do do not trash it. Someone here may be interested. Do not expect big dollars though if the horn needs a lot of work.

I might want to fix dents (none major) and have it re-finished. Do you have any feel for what I'm looking at, moneywise? No players in family. Valves look great. I'm 71, so I don't expect to start playing again.

You might consider donating it to a musical mission.
I currently fix up old horns and give them to Jeanne Pocius "The Chop Doc".
She goes by the name trptchopdoc on trumpet master.

Here's a thread on the topic:

You could donate it to your local school system The elementary programs usually need back up or first use horns, at least here in Kalamazoo. I have turned a couple over that way, and also some to Goodwill, for resale.
