| New Friend | my trumpet collection hi everyone i've just begun collecting vintage horns and its harder finding one than i thought.....especially when your as perdantict and fussy as what i am, at the moment im on the lookout for 3 horns 1.olds recording trumpet 2. king super 20 silversonic 3.olds mendez model. i dont bother unless the horn is in original IMMACULATE (or near perfect) condition comes with original CASE and mouthpiece from factory. also in great condition. and having some sort of paper work would be a bonus... if anyone has any of these 3 horns or others that may be of high quality please email on jehotruba@hotmail.com, i am willing to pay good money for what i think is worth my while.. thanks guys. toni |

![]() | Re: my trumpet collection Every few weeks or so a near perfect Recording comes up on ebay at a hefty price but without the perfect condition case or original mouthpiece you're looking for... I think you're chasing a unicorn and perhaps should be happy if you find the horn itself in excellent condition. Unless, of course, you're a collector only and not a player... In which case I would plead with you: let the players buy them! Recordings are meant to be played, not displayed! Regards, Dave Taylor

![]() | Re: my trumpet collection I, for one, know why you have the Olds Recording on the top of your list. It is my favorite horn and I have had mine since I was a kid. What I have always wondered is if the Olds Recording models of the 60s were all of the same bore. I remember the guy at the shop where my father purchased it saying "he's a good sized boy, you should buy him a horn with a large bore". Greg

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: my trumpet collection Toni, this is what I think that you mean. I hope that you are not aware what that really meant. If not, finding a horn is not your problem! Pedantic= of the character or in the manner of a pedant Pedant=one who makes a vain and pretentious show of learning, one who attaches too much importance to minor details or to formal rules in scholarship. I also hope that you have the necessary cash to back up your "attitude". I think not offering your best when performing ("my horns in my collection get played maybe once a month for bout 10 mins get polished and get pout back.. i play a shitty jupiter for everyday use.") and not letting your audience appreciate your finest horns is DISGRACEFUL! If I had one of these horns, it would not go to to somebody that would lock it away! In case you are not aware, quality instruments do not deteriorate when properly handled, even if they are played a lot.

| New Friend | Re: my trumpet collection "rowuk", firstly i would like to thank you for your "informative reply" but as far as i know this is a trumpet website not a international school of vocabulary. im intersted in buying a trumpet, not a dictionary so without sounding to harsh go take your useless thoughts else where. as far as my funds are concerned "professor" trust me im not one to pity as my hard work is subtitued by my hobby and passion by collecting beatuiful instruments. which brings me to my final point, someone who owns an old classsic vehicle isnt stupid enough to drive it to work and back everyday doesn't matter how slowly or carefully they drive it.. if you rely on your trumpet to amaze and appeal to your crowds when you perform then perhaps i should be questioning you on your capabilites as a professional trumpet player and educator. so quit with your techincal bullshit mate and lets talk trumpet!! |

![]() | Re: my trumpet collection Rowuk, take it easy. That was kind of uncalled for. You've displayed enough knowledge of trumpet to earn everyone's respect on TM but you've had a couple brutal replies lately. Calm down man, don't be malicious.
