Mystery trumpet with lugnut-like shaped bell

This is a real mystery trumpet of my father's! We just brought it out of storage and are curious to know how old it is, where it was made and what the story behind the unusual shape is.

The trumpet is marked with "Paris" on the bell, so perhaps it is made in Paris, then, or is it a model name? There is also an anchor-symbol on there, and two what may be initials.

On the middle pipes to the playing valves there is marked "955". The trumpet appears to be silver plated? On some places this is worn off.

The bell is interestingly enough not round, but almost has the shape of a lugnut. The trumpet is a Bb trumpet.

Would be grateful for any info you have about this trumpet. Model, maker, history, use, who could have owned it? Tricky? I know, but I have tried googling and came up with nothing.

I think I've seen very old trumpets with bells like that before. I wonder if it affects the sound at all. Hope someone here has info for you! What are the initials on the bell? Can you get a picture of that logo?

Thank you for your reply! So it may be old then which is exciting. The initials are what appears to be a "B", and "F", please see the picture. The anchor logo is there aswell:

I tried playing the trumpet and it sounded a bit different but similar to a modern trumpet. I'm no pro in the field of juding trumpet sounds though.

Well, shoot me if I'm wrong, but I think you've got a B & S trumpet there.

Probably Bohland and Fuchs - an anchor was their maker's mark. They were a Czech company that was taken over by the Communists (1948) along with all the others and merged to form Amati. Some manufacturers escaped abroad and started up manufacturing in other European cities. Bohland-Fuchs is now the name of the professional grade horns being produced by Amati in the Czech Republic.

Jude could be right. It could have been a stencil that they bought out of France.

Good to know!

I thought B&S because the German symble for the long S can look like an F in old fashioned script.
