Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have a good find. Here are sites for you to start:

http://www.trumpetmaster.com/vb/f140...ize-39305.html (Martin Committee Bore Size?)

Martin Committee - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Another site, Dallasmusic.org is down. I saw a notice that the domain name had expired.

My guess would be that's a great year to own a Martin Horn. Martin is one of the favorite's of some very famous jazz trumpet players. Miles Davis, Maynard Ferguson.. Chet Baker, Dizzy Gillespie, I believe, all played Martin's at one time or another. Doesn't Chris Botti Play one?

Why would anyone at the Salvation Army know what pros played a 1939 Martin, or whose hands it might have passed through before ultimately ending up in their possession?

Just sayin' ...

Heck, I'd just be happy to have that horn! Assume Miles once played it, and enjoy!
