Old F. Besson Meha Trumpet info??

I have a chance to purchase an old F. Besson trumpet. However, I have never seen one with a rotor in the tuning slide. The owner says the bell says "Meha" and the horn is 100+ years old. I thought the Meha wasn't made until after WWII. Does anyone have any info on a horn like that? How old, value, etc..

I have asked for the serial number and will post it when I get it.

Thanks,
John

tom turner has a spectacular aura about
It is possible that the bell was added later after the original one either got smashed, or because the owner wanted a Meha bell on it.

Keep us posted . . .

Mehas were first made in the early 1930's, so that horn isn't original. I have a pre-war Meha 8xxxx that has been buffed way too hard (I can't read the rest of the serial numbers, but it still plays pretty well. It used to belong to one of the original members of the Glenn Miller Orchestra, I'm totally drawing a blank on his name right now. I'd love to find one in great shape someday.

Pre war serial numbers are below 92,000, so that horn was probably make in the 1950's. It isn't 100 years old.
