Old Getzen Capri

i came across a old getzen capri, right now im using a 700 special from getzen. The capri sounds nice, but is beat the HELL out of.. the stores got it listed at 250 but i can get it down to 200, but if i got it it would need a total over haul, all dents, 1 slids replaces, acid bath, and a electroplating..

is it worth it 2 buy or move on ? please email me back

Dave Mickley is on a distinguished road
you have a good horn with the 700, save your coins for a great horn later on. Dave

Re: Old Getzen Capri

The Capri and the 700 Special are very similar. There are plenty of used Eternas around. The 700 Eternas can be good, the great Leon Merian plays one that is outstanding. I played one today (at FMEA Convention) that was stuffy, The Eterna 900 was very good (almost as good as my 35 year old Severinson). I recommend that you look for a good used one. I play a 1970 (or so) Severinson and it is a great horn.

Re: Old Getzen Capri

The 700 Special and Capri are very similar. Depending on how old your 700SP is, they could be a lot alike. A while back we changed the design of the 700SP to utilize a seamless bell rather than a two piece bell design. If you have an older, two piece bell version the you'll probably find that the Capri is very similar.

I'd suggest you look into a used 900 too. I would rather you bought a new one, but if money is an issue you're better off with a used one. You can find some decent horns on ebay for a little more than they are asking for the Capri and usually they are in play ready shape.
