Other responses aside, try Olds central , the best info on Olds instruments.
Olds Central: Information on trumpets and cornets by F. E Olds and Son 1928-1979 Also, you can use the search function to find many archived threads on Ambassadors.

It will come back to you in 'better than new' condition. Your only problem will be with ANA Mendez, who wants Charley to focus on his horns first and foremost.

When it comes back, can you post some photos? I have several Olds cornets and trumpets and I would like to have a sense of what they would look like if I sent them in for refinishing.

Thanks.

Re: Olds Ambassador Cornet

Unless your horn has great sentimental value, it isn't worth being restored. It will cost hundreds of dollars to have it re-lacquered/valve job etc, and when you're done it you'll have more money invested in it than the horn is worth. Just a heads up!

Schwab is right. Also, I don't want to be stripped of the distinction of owning the worlds most expensive re-built Olds Ambassador Cornet

What??? How did you sneak past me in that distinction? Do I need to send mine back for some more work so that I can regain the record??
