Looking for suggestions for a hard shell double trumpet case in which I can fit my 2 Olds trumpets, a '49 Super Recording and a '52 Studio. (I don't trust the soft cases). The Olds horns are a bit longer (1/4"-1/2") than my other horns. For example, I have one those new and beautiful Bach Artisan double trumpet cases, in which my 2 Martin Committees fit fine. (Now, if I could rid of the Back logo in favor of Martin, that would be nice) But, the Olds trumpets are too long for it, even though the outside is pretty much the same as my other cases. The Olds trumpets fit in a Getzen case, a Selmer case, and an old Martin case, all of which are 21 1/4" on the outside. Though the Bach case is also 21 1/4" it has thicker side walls and lots of padding. I like displaying the horns in open cases in a shelving unit. The 21 14/ cases just fit. The older Bach double cases will work with the longer Olds horns.

I would look into a torpedo case then. The coyote should be great. It can hold 2 trumpets, or 2 horns and some gear.

I've got an Olds Super and a Superstar in a Yamaha Double Case, the one that comes with their pro horns. Sometimes its got two Supers in it, works great!

The Superstar is a long horn, its the only trumpet I've got that doesn't fit some of my cases

I also have an original Olds Case I think for an Ambassador originally, but it holds an Olds Super trumpet in the main space, and an Olds Super Cornet in the equipment area quite well!! Unintentional double case for the win :)

I have begun buying used road cases of the Anvil type. I can get them for around $30.00 if I am patient. Then I fabricate the inside to hold whatever combination I want. So far I have one for my Frankenhorn, one for my Recording, and another that I haven't made a decision on just yet. It is a good alternative to buying used cases in that I am secure that my horns are safe inside them. With refurb and cleanup I have a case that will cost about 50-55 and is completely safe for my horns. I was forced to do this because I have acquired numerous horns that had no cases. The Frankenhorn case came out so well that I was encouraged to make others. You might want to consider it. Even though I don't play full time now, and I don't have roadies throwing my horns on the bus, it is comforting to see these sturdy cases lined up.
