Trumpet1Ohio is on a distinguished road
Olds Recording

Well I'm on the "horns of a dilemmaL as they say. Moneys tight so I sold all my horns but 1- Burbank Benge, Olds Super and Conn 22b. I am left with a newer Bach Strad that I really like.

The other day I stumbled on a 54 Olds Recording in very good condition and the price was good so I bought it to resell and make a few bucks, but now I'm not sure... Do I sell the Bach to keep the Olds? I don't play much anymore...gig here and there. Also my daughter has a strad I can borrow if I'd need it for any reason.

So what would you do? Iam only keeping 1 horn.

Thanks
Ken

Re: Olds Recording

I would stay with the Strad. In the long run I think that would be the horn to have.

Enjoy

I vehemently disagree! He has access to his daughters Strad and the L.A. made Olds Recording is at least equal in quality and performance to the Strads. The ever increasing collector value of the Olds is another very valid consideration.

KEEP THE OLDS AND SELL THE STRAD!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Olds Recording

Play the Olds a while and see if you like it more or less than the Strad. Keep the one that plays the best for you. I wouldn't sell a horn I really liked to keep one that was just OK for my only horn, even if the collector value was higher.

Actually.......Dale has the correct answer. I was thinking with my heart.

Re: Olds Recording

Unless you plan on joining some "snooty" orchestra filled with Bach apologists, I think the answer is clear, sell the Bach copy and enjoy the real Olds.
