Readding laquer/silver/gold on small spot missing plating

Sorry for the noob question but

Is that possible? I saw that some people were completely stripping it off but some also seems to add plating were it was missing?

I guess there is no self kits for that?

the quality of the plating is only as good as the quality of your prep work.

the brass has to be cleaned, polished, and degreased. Then you have to consider the finish you are matching. On many vintage horns it is a satin silver finish. This is done by bead/soda blasting the brass, then cleaning & degreasing and finally the plating. On more modern horns, the brass is highly polished and then plated (after cleaning & degreasing)

Often the underlying brass is uneven and pitted where the silver is worn off. That will still show through the plating unless you buff & smooth out the pits.

It's not that hard for small areas... don't get too worried...

Caswell has some videos... and you can practice on small parts like coins or car keys.
